Hallowe'en Seems A Propos...

...the scary atmosphere is setting the scene for the scariest year, yet.
I think this year is even more terrifying than the first year. I have never felt less prepared. I have no idea how I am going to find the time to do this. And I am haunted by the prospect that 'The Vow' might prove to be the single greatest influence on my novel.
Here is what I know so far about my novel... it centres around a brother and sister. The brother ends up in trouble and the sister has to come to the rescue, armed with little more than a strange inclination to make overly specific pop cultural references and a bad attitude. Sort of like what would happen if I were forced tomorrow to go rescue somebody from sinister and yet somehow inept drug dealers. My characters do not yet have names... haven't had time to think that through. But I think the sister's name is going to be Annie. I know, I know, I used it in the first novel, but it just feels like that's her name. Brother's name.... dunno. Of course there is a love interest. Don't know his name either but he is the brother's best friend. Anyway... the goddamn train departs from the station tomorrow and I better be ready.

  1. I am so excited for this. Yes, this year is terrifying. And I love how unprepared you are and, I think, we all are. I have planned out a character and a little bit of plot but most of my ideas involve cool kinds of spells and fashion that a witch might wear.
Also, I have no idea how The Vow could have anything to do with your novel but I can't wait to find out!

    SO EXCITED!

PS I have disabled the feature on my blog that forces commenters to prove they are not a robot... I'll let you know if I am invaded by spambots and if not, maybe you'd think about it too? I hate those stupid fuzzy images that I can never read and certainly can't decipher.

  2. I don't know what The Vow is, but I'm excited to find out.

Good luck on your noveling adventure. Sounds like there will be lots of shenanigans. I'll be cheering you on all the way.

  3. I'm a big fan of the sinister yet inept villain and I can't wait to read your take on it. This year does seem especially terrifying but I know that you'll come up with something great in the end.
